The answer

It is permissible for a woman to play the daff (a type of tambourine) and sing permissible songs at permissible occasions, such as Eids and weddings. It is stipulated that the singing must not be vulgar, nor describe beauty or immorality. As for dancing, it is not permissible in front of non-mahram men, nor mahram men, nor in front of women, due to the temptation it involves and the woman describing another woman to her husband. As for permissible words in singing, they are those that do not include a forbidden description, or incite lust, or words forbidden by Islamic law.
