Is it permissible to bring in a female singer to perform at a wedding, provided that certain conditions are met, such as adhering to non-indecent singing, using only the tambourine (daf), and not using external loudspeakers?

It is permissible to bring in a "duffafah" (female drum player) or "taqqāqah" (female percussionist) and pay her for her work, provided the Islamic conditions for using the duff (frame drum) at a wedding celebration are met. Sheikh Ibn 'Uthaymin (may Allah have mercy on him) clarified that paying money to female duff players is permissible because it is for a lawful act. However, it is not permissible to pay money to female drum players (specifically, those who play drums other than the duff) because it is for a prohibited act, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Indeed, when Allah forbids something, He also forbids its price."

It is also important to note that while playing the duff at a wedding and paying for it is originally permissible, it may be accompanied by forbidden or disliked matters that render it prohibited. Among these is dancing to the sound of duffs; Sheikh Ibn 'Uthaymin clarified that dancing is disliked, especially if there is a fear of fitnah (temptation/strife) arising from it. Another prohibited matter is extravagance in the paid fee, as Allah Almighty says: "And do not be extravagant. Indeed, He does not like the extravagant."
