What is the ruling of Islamic law regarding some Muslims' displeasure with daughters and threatening the wife with divorce if she gives birth to a girl?

Resentment over giving birth to daughters is considered an act of Jahiliyyah (pre-Islamic ignorance). It is an objection to Allah's divine decree and destiny, an insult to women, and a sign of ignorance and foolishness, resembling the manners of the people of Jahiliyyah. Moreover, daughters possess great virtue; they are mothers, wives, and sisters. Allah has called them a gift and prioritized them over males, and the Prophet, peace be upon him, encouraged excellent treatment of them.
