Repentance is obligatory for a forbidden emotional relationship. However, one should turn their heart away from him and abandon hope of marrying him due to his lack of purification, the difficulty in knowing his true situation, and to overcome obstacles. As for the other young man, you have the right to reject him. But if he is a man of religion and good character and your parents approve of him, we hope that marriage to him will be blessed, and we recommend performing Istikhara.
