The answer

Teaching the Quran is one of the best acts of devotion, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "The best among you is he who learns the Quran and teaches it." A group of scholars has gone to the extent of saying that tajwid (reciting the Quran with proper pronunciation and rules) is obligatory, based on the Almighty’s saying: "And recite the Quran with a measured recitation." When teaching, it is preferable to focus on correct pronunciation and gentleness, then to teach recitation with tajwid, and beginning with the shorter surahs is more conducive to understanding and concentration.
