If a person swears an oath not to eat anything containing sugar, and then swears an oath not to eat chocolate, then if the second oath was due to the presence of sugar in it, it is considered a repeated oath on the same thing, and only one expiation (kaffarah) is required if the oath is broken.

However, if the oath regarding chocolate was for the chocolate itself, not because it contains sugar, and then both oaths are broken by a single act, then only one expiation is also required according to the preponderant opinion. Some say two expiations are required.

And if the questioner does not possess money for the expiation, then she transitions to fasting, and she is not required to inform her family to give her money.
