How does one complain to God, and is it permissible to elaborate on what troubles the servant to his Lord, mentioning so-and-so or fearing a certain matter?

A Muslim complains of his affairs and sorrows to Allah Almighty. He raises his supplications to Him and asks Him to relieve his distress. Complaining to Allah does not contradict beautiful patience, as Jacob (peace be upon him) said: "I only complain of my suffering and my grief to Allah." And it was narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "O Allah, to You I complain of my weakness."

Complaining to Allah is done by referring the harm to Him and seeking His help and the relief of distress, such as when a servant says: "O Allah, I am afraid of such and such, so secure my fear," or "O Allah, so-and-so has harmed me, so protect me from his evil and reclaim my right from him."
