Must the married woman who commits adultery be stoned if she confesses to it?

Adultery is one of the major sins that incurs Allah's wrath and punishment. The heinousness of adultery committed by a married person is magnified because they have lawful means to satisfy their desires. Therefore, their punishment is more severe: stoning to death. However, this punishment is only to be carried out by the Muslim ruler; otherwise, chaos would ensue.

Thus, you are not permitted to carry out the prescribed punishment for adultery on this woman. Rather, you must remind her of Allah, command her to repent, and prevent her from engaging in the causes and pretexts that might lead her to commit this sin again.
