Scholars have differed concerning the blood of a pregnant woman. What we issue fatwa on is that it is dysfunctional blood, which does not prevent prayer or fasting. If the bleeding continues, it is considered istihadah (irregular vaginal bleeding), and the woman experiencing istihadah must take precautions in her purification by washing off the blood and using cotton or a cloth for absorption, binding and tightening if the blood is not stemmed otherwise. She must also perform wudu for every prayer after washing the area of the impurity and securing it, taking precautions to prevent the discharge of the impurity as much as possible.
