Is feeding sixty indigent persons sufficient expiation for breaking a day's fast in the previous Ramadan, instead of fasting two consecutive months, and must this be done before the upcoming Ramadan, or is it permissible to delay it?

Whoever breaks their fast for a day in Ramadan without a valid excuse must make up that day, along with expiation if the breaking of the fast was due to sexual intercourse. However, if the fast was broken intentionally without sexual intercourse (such as by eating or drinking), scholars have differed regarding the obligation of expiation. The more preponderant opinion is that only making up the day is required, along with repentance. It is not permissible to delay the expiation for sexual intercourse.
