The answer

Whoever deliberately breaks their fast in Ramadan without a valid excuse has committed a grave sin, and they must offer sincere repentance and make up the days they missed. If the breaking of the fast was for something other than sexual intercourse, then only making up the days is required. If they delay making up the days until the following Ramadan without a valid excuse, despite knowing they should make them up, then they must feed one poor person for each day. However, if the breaking of the fast was due to sexual intercourse, then a severe expiation is required, which is: freeing a slave. If they cannot find a slave to free, then fasting for two consecutive months. If they are unable to do that, then feeding sixty poor persons. This ruling applies to the husband. As for the wife, she is not obligated to offer this severe expiation. The two months can be calculated by sighting the crescent moon or by number (sixty days).
