What is the ruling on ablution (wudu') and prayer for someone who has been in a car accident and cannot remove their medical boot and compression stocking except once or twice a week, and pours water over the boot during ablution?

If the bandage is applied for medical purposes, and removing it is feared to cause harm or entails difficulty, then it is permissible to wipe over it during purification (ablution or ghusl) as long as the need persists. However, if it is for other than that, then it is like socks: one may wipe over it during ablution only if it is thick and covers the area, and the duration for wiping is one day and one night for a resident and three days and nights for a traveler.
