Is it permissible to wipe over a bandage when performing ritual bathing (ghusl) after deliberate impurity (janabah), or must one make up the prayers after removing the bandage?

Wiping over a bandage is sufficient if washing would harm the wound, whether the impurity is minor or major. This has been reported from Ali ibn Abi Talib and Ibn Umar. If one is harmed by washing or wiping the wound with water, one should perform tayammum for it and wash the rest of the body. If one is not harmed by wiping it, then it is obligatory and sufficient. Wiping the wound with water is preferable to wiping over a splint and better than tayammum.
