1. If he intended to issue more than one divorce: Three divorces occur, and his wife becomes irrevocably divorced (baynunah kubra) from him. 2. If he intended to confirm the first utterance, and then to issue another divorce: Two divorces occur. If he had previously divorced her and then reconciled with her, the total number of divorces becomes three, and she becomes irrevocably divorced (baynunah kubra) from him. 3. If he intended only to confirm the previous divorce, or had no intention: One divorce occurs, and he may reconcile with her during her waiting period (').
