The question

Are the intrusive thoughts related to creed, such as "Who created us and why were we created?", which cause severe headaches and tingling in the head and left foot, in addition to thoughts like "Whom do we pray to?" and comparing God to a tyrannical master, and thoughts of suicide and feelings of dissociation, merely obsessive compulsive disorder, or do they have other causes, such as those the questioner feels, like "sorcery, jinn possession, or evil eye"? And what is the legitimate Islamic treatment for such cases?

The answer

Praise be to Allah, Who has reduced Satan's cunning to mere whispers, which are a minor harm unless one gives in to them. A Muslim must seek refuge in Allah and stop these whispers when they occur, as stated in His saying: "And if an evil suggestion comes to you from Satan, then seek refuge in Allah. Indeed, He is Hearing and Knowing." Among the greatest ways to repel Satan, after seeking Allah's help, are acquiring Islamic knowledge, especially 'Aqidah (creed), contemplating the Qur'an, maintaining regular litanies (awrad), warding off distracting thoughts, and occupying oneself with what is beneficial. It is also recommended to recite Surah Al-Fatihah, Surah Ad-Dukhan, and Surah Qaf multiple times over water and drink it, as it is beneficial and proven. These thoughts and obsessions are from Satan and his cunning, and one must refrain from dwelling on them. If they persist, there is no harm in consulting a psychiatrist or a legitimate Raqi (exorcist).
