The answer

Islam has permitted recreation and entertainment, with lawful regulations, among them that it should not distract from the remembrance of Allah and prayer, and that it should not be accompanied by gambling or chance, or lead to conflict and fanaticism, or include incitement to aggression and crime, or be accompanied by forbidden things like music. It is preferable for recreation to be beneficial, such as mental or physical exercise, or gaining experience. There is no difference between online or direct games. The mentioned game is permissible if it is free of prohibitions, and spending money to accelerate an attack on an opponent in it is not gambling as long as it does not involve something forbidden.
