What should one do who is afflicted with frequent daily masturbation in Ramadan?

Masturbation is forbidden (haram). It is obligatory for a young man to fear Allah, stay away from provocations, and utilize Ramadan to discipline himself by abandoning forbidden desires. The fasting person "leaves his food, drink, and desires for My sake." Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen pointed to its prohibition, citing the verse: "But whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors" (Qur'an 23:7) and the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "O young men, whoever among you can afford to marry, let him do so, for it helps lower the gaze and guard chastity. And whoever cannot afford it, let him fast, for it will be a shield for him." Had masturbation been permissible, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, would have guided people to it. A young man should strive to get married and seek Allah's help to rid himself of this bad habit.
