Is the splitting of the moon one of the miracles of the Messenger, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, that occurred when his people asked him for it?

Allah supported His messengers with miracles as proof of their truthfulness. The miracles of the prophets ceased with their death, except for our Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. Allah singled him out with the Holy Quran as an eternal miracle, in addition to other miracles such as the Isra and Mi'raj and the splitting of the moon. The polytheists asked the Prophet to show them a sign, so he prayed to his Lord and the moon split into two halves. Despite this, Quraish considered it magic and did not believe.
