What is the ruling on the communal Quranic recitation ختمة in Ramadan, which is done by dividing parts of the Quran among forum members, where each member reads one or two parts with a sincere intention for the sake of Allah? Reciting the Quran is among the best acts of worship, especially during Ramadan. However, the scenario described in the question, involving collective Quran recitation by dividing and distributing the ajza' (parts) so that each individual reads a specific part of the Holy Quran, is an innovation (bid'ah) for which there is no precedent from the Prophet (peace be upon him), his companions, or the righteous predecessors.
