Does Allah Almighty forgive major sins, such as anal sex with one's wife, by saying "Subhan Allah wa bihamdihi" (Glorified is Allah and praised be He) 100 times a day, as stated in the Hadith: "your sins will be forgiven even if they were like the foam of the sea"?

The hadith (definition) "his sins will be forgiven" refers to sins related to the rights of Allah Almighty and minor sins. Major sins are not expiated by good deeds except through repentance, as this has been qualified by other hadiths, such as the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "The five daily prayers, Jumu'ah to Jumu'ah, and Ramadan (definition) to Ramadan are expiations for what is between them, provided that major sins are avoided."

Accordingly, whoever engages in anal intercourse with his wife has committed a major sin that necessitates sincere repentance, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Accursed is he who has intercourse with a woman in her anus." And a curse is only for a major sin. Sincere repentance transforms bad deeds into good deeds, as Allah Almighty says: "Except for those who repent, believe and do righteous deeds. For them Allah will change their evil deeds into good ones. And Allah is ever Forgiving, Merciful."
