Some scholars have held that the foundations of good morals are patience, wisdom, moderation, chastity, and trustworthiness, while others considered them to be wisdom, courage, chastity, and justice, or courage, generosity, and wisdom. Still others believe that the origins of virtues are four: justice, understanding, valor, and generosity, which are opposed by the origins of vices: injustice, ignorance, cowardice, and avarice.
