Is what the questioner feels by way of hatred towards his father, as a result of his father's poor treatment of his mother and children, considered disobedience to parents, and what advice can be offered to him and his mother?
Kindness to parents and obedience to them in what is right and dutifulness to them are obligatory, no matter how badly they behave. Supporting the father gently and politely in the mistakes he makes is necessary. His going to soothsayers and believing them is a mistake and an act of disbelief. The cure for magic is through remembrance of Allah (dhikr) and ruqya. His doubting the lineage of his children based on dreams is a great injustice. Preventing the mother from maintaining ties of kinship is wrong, and children must maintain ties of kinship and cooperate in good deeds. The mother must live with the father in kindness, be just among her children, honor her parents, and maintain ties of kinship, while noting the invalidity of adoption.
