How can the verses that indicate Allah saved Noah's family and his descendants as the survivors be reconciled with the verse that mentions the drowning of Noah's son?

Scholars interpret the verse: (So We saved him and his family) to mean that "family" includes all of Noah's followers who believed in him, whether they were relatives or not. Al-Hafiz Ibn Kathir stated that what is meant are those who believed in him. Abu Bakr Al-Jassas clarified that the word "family" includes one's wife and those in the household, as well as followers, and everyone who followed the man in his religion.

It is also possible that "family" refers to his relatives and wife, excluding those whose destruction was indicated by the Quran, such as his son and wife, as mentioned by العلامة الأمين الشنقيطي (Al-Allamah Al-Amin Ash-Shinqiti). Therefore, there is no contradiction between the verses in this regard.
