Does doubled Tasbeeh suffice over regular Dhikr, or is it better to combine them?
All forms of dhikr (remembrance of Allah) hold great virtue, and it is best for a Muslim to combine them and recite them frequently. The form "Subhanallah wa bihamdihi adada khalqihi wa rida nafsihi wa zinata arshihi wa midada kalimatihi" (Glory be to Allah and with His praise, as numerous as His creation, as much as pleases Him, as much as the weight of His Throne, and as much as the ink of His words) yields a greater reward due to its amplification.
However, in cases where tasbih (glorification) and tahmid (praise) are prescribed individually, such as the remembrances after prayer and before sleep, it is better to stick to what has been authentically reported.
To illustrate the virtues of these forms of remembrance, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Purity is half of faith, and Alhamdulillah (all praise is due to Allah) fills the scale, and Subhanallah (Glory be to Allah) and Alhamdulillah fill – or fills – what is between the heavens and the earth."
And he, peace and blessings be upon him, also said: "For me to say: Subhanallah, and Alhamdulillah, and La ilaha illallah (there is no god but Allah), and Allahu Akbar (Allah is the greatest) – is dearer to me than all that the sun has risen upon."
