In belief, they adhere to pure monotheism derived from the Quran and Sunnah. In worship, they apply what was narrated from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, without innovation. In manners, they are distinguished by noble and excellent character. As for dealings, they rely on truthfulness and clarity. A deficiency in manners and dealings does not exclude one from the saved sect, unlike a deficiency in monotheism and innovations. Among their most important characteristics is the unity of their word and agreement upon the truth. They do not harbor malice or enmity if they differ on matters of ijtihad (independent reasoning); rather, they consider themselves brothers, and some pray behind others even if there is a difference in subsidiary issues, because they believe that differences arising from ijtihad are not true disagreements. They call upon Muslims affiliated with the Sunnah to unite, to reconcile their hearts, and not to contend with each other due to differences in which ijtihad is permissible.
