Should one wake one's family for Fajr prayer, and does that take precedence over performing the Fajr Sunnah prayer?

Scholars have differed on the ruling of waking someone for prayer. Some have said it is recommended if their sleep does not lead to missing the prayer, and obligatory if they slept after the time for prayer began. Some scholars have gone further, stating that it is obligatory to wake a sleeping person for prayer in all cases.

To reconcile the benefit of performing the two rak'ahs of Fajr prayer and waking one's family, it is advisable to wake up early before Fajr to wake them, or to return from the mosque after the prayer to wake them, as this is better than remaining in the mosque.

If it is not possible to return before sunrise, then waking the family takes precedence, followed by going to the mosque. The Sunnah prayer of Fajr can then be performed after the congregational prayer or after sunrise, because the right of the family is more emphasized, as Allah Almighty says: (And enjoin prayer upon your family and be steadfast therein), and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "All of you are shepherds and all of you are responsible for your flock."
