Is it permissible to pray at home if the day is cold and rainy?

There is no harm in praying at home when there is rain or severe cold that harms a person or makes it excessively difficult for them to go to the mosque. However, if they are able to go, they are not excused for abandoning congregational prayer. The evidence for this is the action of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and his command to the muezzin to call for prayer in one's dwellings on a cold or rainy night during a journey.
