What is the story of the woman who came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and informed him that she was pregnant out of wedlock, and did she expose herself, or did her family know of her situation beforehand? And how did the Messenger of Allah rule that the prescribed punishment be carried out on her immediately, without calling her to repentance, even though she confessed her sin and Allah had not exposed her?

Al-Ghamidiyyah came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, pregnant from fornication, confessing her sin. She insisted on being purified by the legal punishment (hadd). The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, delayed the implementation of the punishment until she gave birth and weaned her child. Then he ordered her to be stoned. He prayed over her and testified that she had made a tremendous repentance. The Prophet did not call Al-Ghamidiyyah to repentance because she came repentant and remorseful, and the Prophet carried out the punishment on her due to her insistence. Although concealment (of sins) is recommended, confessing the sin and requesting the implementation of the punishment is more effective in purification, which is what Al-Ghamidiyyah did.
