What is incumbent upon a man who had intercourse with his wife multiple times during the daytime in Ramadan after returning from travel, and this recurred over many years since 1976 CE? And is there a specific amount for the expiation of intercourse?

If a man takes the concession to break his fast while traveling and then has intercourse with his wife after arriving in his hometown while still not fasting, he only needs to make up for the missed fast.

However, if he returns while fasting and then has intercourse with his wife, he must repent and pay expiation for each day he had intercourse, in addition to making up for those days. His wife is also liable for expiation if she was compliant.

The expiation is: freeing a slave. If he is unable, then fasting for two consecutive months. If he is unable, then feeding sixty poor people (approximately 750 grams for each poor person), though it is safer to give around one and a half kilograms. According to the majority of scholars, paying the monetary value is not sufficient; rather, food must be given. If he is unable to feed the poor, the expiation remains a debt upon him until he is able to fulfill it, and it does not lapse due to destitution.
