Am I obliged to seek to complete a marriage that I do not desire in order to be able to wear the hijab? Is going to university considered a necessity for going out, knowing that my not going out will reveal my situation? Is it permissible for me to attend exams wearing clothes that reveal some of my head, neck, and hair? And must I cut my hair to reduce what is revealed?

First: Praise be to Allah who guided you to Islam and enabled you to believe, and this is a great blessing that necessitates gratitude with your heart, tongue, and limbs.

Second: Displaying faith gently and gradually may be better than concealing it, and it helps in adhering to the religion. Despite the difficulties, patience and certainty help in overcoming them.

Third: You can seek assistance from Muslim communities to defend you and benefit from laws that guarantee freedom of religion.

Fourth: If there is no way but to conceal your faith, there is no blame upon you.

Fifth: Marriage helps with matters of religion, and the guardian (wali) must be Muslim. The approval or disapproval of the family is not given consideration in Islamic law.

Sixth: Studying is not a necessity that permits removing the hijab, unless you fear harm to your religion, in which case you may uncover only what repels the harm, and there is no need to cut your hair.

Seventh: Piety towards Allah will provide you a way out of every difficulty and relief from every sorrow.
