Are the Prophetic attributes obligatory for men and women, and is it permissible for women to sit in the iftirash position for the tashahhud?

The physical characteristics of the Prophet (peace be upon him) are not part of the religious obligations. However, his moral characteristics should be emulated by Muslims. There is no difference between men and women in the ruling on emulating him (peace be upon him), including the manner of prayer, except for some recommended postures.

In prayer, it is recommended for a man to keep his elbows away from his sides during bowing (ruku') and prostration (sujud), unlike a woman, for whom it is recommended to keep her limbs close to her body as it is more concealing for her. Regarding the posture of sitting in the tashahhud, Hanafis believe that a woman should practice tawarruk (sitting on her left hip with both feet coming out from her right side), unlike a man. As for the Hanbalis, their view is that she has the choice between sitting cross-legged or letting her legs hang down to her right side.
