Is the Hadith "The world is cursed" authentic?

The Hadith (definition), "Behold, the world is cursed, and cursed is what is in it, except the remembrance of Allah and what follows it, and a scholar or a student of knowledge," was graded hasan (definition) (good) by Tirmidhi. Although there is a narrator in its chain about whom there was some criticism, his status is "truthful, but makes mistakes," and it is supported by the mursal narration of Ibn al-Munkadir. The meaning of "cursed" refers to everything in the world that distracts from Allah, except for what is for Allah, such as remembrance and knowledge. This is the purpose for which the world was created and for which Allah is to be worshipped within it. It does not mean that everything in the world is to be condemned; rather, what is condemned is that which is forbidden or that which is permissible but leads to boasting and showing off.
