Which poses a greater danger to the believer: their own self or Satan? And why, and how does the believer guard against the pitfalls and dangers of their self?

Both Satan and the self are enemies of man, but Satan is a more intense and dangerous enemy because he is pure evil and a clear adversary, and the Holy Quran has warned against him extensively. As for the self, it is among the soldiers of Satan, obeying his commands, and it may disobey him by the grace of Allah Almighty. Ibn al-Qayyim mentioned that the self is like a millstone that grinds whatever is thrown into it, whether good or evil.
