What is the story of Yusuf (Joseph), peace be upon him, from the arrival of Ya'qub (Jacob), peace be upon him, to him, until his death? And did he become king of Egypt after the death of the (then) king? And did Yusuf and Ya'qub, peace be upon them, invite the king to monotheism (Tawhid)?

After Allah bestowed His grace upon Yusuf and reunited him with his family, he supplicated to Allah to let him die as a Muslim and join the righteous. There are differing opinions regarding the timing of this supplication and whether Yusuf died immediately thereafter or lived for years. There is no need to know what happened next, as the Quran does not inform us. It is narrated that Musa (peace be upon him) took Yusuf's bones out of Egypt before departing from it, based on Yusuf's وصية (bequest) and an old woman from the Children of Israel knowing the location of his burial. This narration is "very strange and most likely a mawquf narration" (a statement attributed to a Companion and not directly to the Prophet).
