What is the ruling of Islamic law regarding a wife's insistence on frequently visiting her family and staying overnight with them due to her father's illness, given her husband's refusal due to previous issues and fears of separation, especially since the husband is currently unable to afford travel?

The spouses' awareness of their respective rights and duties is the foundation for a successful marital life. Therefore, the wife and her family must realize that her guardianship has become the responsibility of her husband, and her primary duty is towards him. A wife's visit to her family, even if it is for maintaining kinship ties, must align with the husband's circumstances and not infringe upon his rights or displease him. The wife is not permitted to stay overnight at her parents' house if there is someone to care for her sick father. Leaving the husband in his loneliness under the pretext of the father's illness is meaningless, as her presence will not change anything regarding his appointed time. It is advisable for the wife to travel now, as the father's lifespan is unknown, and her return would be a continuous problem until the father's death. A wise wife should be prudent in managing her relationship with her husband and communicate with her family by phone to check on her father.
