Is it permissible to use beer that contains alcohol as a sunblock against the sun's rays, and is purchasing it unlawful even if it is not consumed?
The fatwa adopted by us is that intoxicating alcohol is considered ritually impure wine (khamr najisah) according to most scholars. Therefore, beer that contains alcohol is ritually impure (mutanajjisah), and prayer is not permissible before it is removed. However, it is permissible to use it on the outer body outside of prayer, because it is a ritually impure substance from which benefit can be derived in matters other than eating and drinking, and purchasing beer for this purpose is not prohibited.
However, if the alcohol undergoes a complete transformation (istihalah) into a non-intoxicating substance during manufacturing, then it becomes pure thereby, according to the preponderant opinion.
