The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, frequently recited the Quran day and night, and he encouraged his Ummah to recite it and teach it. Before sleeping, he would recite Surah Al-Sajdah and Al-Mulk, and Surah Al-Isra and Al-Zumar. He would also cup his hands together before sleeping, recite the Mu'awwidhat (Surahs Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, and An-Nas) three times, and then wipe his body with them. He encouraged the recitation of Surah Al-Kafirun before sleeping, the recitation of Ayatul-Kursi before sleeping, and the recitation of the last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah. Upon waking up, he would recite the last ten verses of Aal 'Imran. He also encouraged the recitation of Ayatul-Kursi and the Mu'awwidhat after every prayer, and the recitation of the Mu'awwidhat three times in the morning and evening.
