What is the state that makes me not want to joke, not accept nicknames, fear my older brother mocking me, and prefer limited mingling with others?

The noble verse concludes: ﴿O you who have believed, let not a people ridicule [another] people; perhaps they may be better than them; nor let women ridicule [other] women; perhaps they may be better than them. And do not insult one another and do not call each other by [offensive] nicknames. Wretched is the name of disobedience after [one's] faith. And whoever does not repent - then it is those who are the wrongdoers.﴾ This verse prohibits three things: mockery (sakhriyah), defaming (lamz), and calling by offensive nicknames (tanabuz bil-alqab), and it clarifies that these actions are wickedness after faith.

A Muslim must not mock others, and whoever does so falls under the saying of the Prophet, peace be upon him: "It is enough evil for a person to despise his Muslim brother." One should differentiate between mockery and permissible jesting, as some may intend jesting without intending offense. If a brother is subjected to unacceptable jesting, it is advised to gently confront the other party or seek the help of a wise person to clarify the matter.

To protect oneself and draw closer to Allah, the following are recommended: 1. Maintaining the five daily prayers in congregation at the mosque. 2. Maintaining the obligatory acts and increasing voluntary acts of worship. 3. Increasing the remembrance of Allah and recitation of the Quran. 4. Frequent supplication and insisting upon Allah for steadfastness. 5. Keeping good company and attending gatherings of knowledge.
