Is what happens to you—pursuing means while remaining attached to God, and receiving provision from unexpected sources—what is meant by the verse: ‘And whoever fears God… He will provide for him from where he does not expect’?

Allah Almighty says: "And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out And will provide for him from where he does not expect. And whoever relies upon Allah - then He is sufficient for him. Indeed, Allah will accomplish His purpose. Allah has already set for everything a [decreed] extent." This promise of a way out and provision may specifically relate to spouses or it may be general for the people of piety. Al-Baydawi mentioned that the verse is a promise to the pious of salvation from the harms of both abodes, and that if people were to act upon it, it would suffice them. It was narrated from Salamah ibn Awf that when he feared Allah, his captive son was returned to him along with many camels. Abu As-Su'ud mentioned that the verse emphasizes the necessity of observing Allah's limits, and that whoever fears Allah in his affairs, He will make for him a way out and provide for him from where he does not expect. This may mean that whoever fears Allah in all that he does and refrains from, He will make for him a way out and a means of escape from the sorrows of this world and the Hereafter, and from the doubts of this world and the hardships of the Day of Resurrection. However, the verse does not mean that provision from an expected source is a punishment, nor that provision from an unexpected source is proof of piety. The verse indicates that piety is a cause for a servant to be provided for from unexpected sources, but not all provision for the pious is from unexpected sources, nor is everyone who is provided for from unexpected sources pious.
