Revocable divorce (talaq raj'i) is that which is less than three divorces and was not for a financial consideration. It remains revocable even if by mutual agreement between the spouses. Irrevocable divorce (talaq ba'in), on the other hand, occurs by mutual agreement in exchange for the wife forfeiting something from her Mahr, or if it completes the third divorce, or if it occurred before consummation. The default type of divorce is revocable.
