If a woman or a man is afflicted with the disease of passionate love, which is a dangerous ailment, then it is obligatory to seek its cure by abandoning its causes. As for compelling oneself to love one's spouse, it is permissible and rewarded.

If the love in the heart for a non-mahram person is not sinful, provided that one dislikes that love and wishes for its disappearance, and takes measures to be rid of it by diverting one's memory and thoughts from it, and that the matter does not extend to actions of the limbs, such as speaking or looking, then accordingly, inquiring about the conditions of this non-mahram person is impermissible and must cease immediately.
