Is recovery from illness linked to medicine, and does medicine hasten recovery?

Combining medical treatment with reliance on Allah does not contradict the essence of Tawhid (monotheism). The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, clarified that there is a cure for every disease except old age. If this medicine is something Allah has made a cure for a specific ailment, and the patient uses it, they will be cured by Allah's permission, provided that the heart relies on Allah for the attainment of healing. This is because healing only occurs by His permission, as Allah Almighty says: "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me," and "And if Allah should touch you with adversity, there is no remover of it except Him." Therefore, turning to means without reliance on Allah is shirk (polytheism), and completely turning away from means is a flaw in the Sharia. A person may be cured without medicine, through an answered supplication, ruqyah (incantation), or strength of heart and excellent reliance on Allah.
