Will my son's father or I be held accountable if our ten-and-a-half-year-old son prays Fajr while semi-asleep?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Parents must command their children to pray when they reach the age of seven and accustom them to it, so that when they reach puberty, they are obligated to pray. One who is not accustomed to prayer at this age is feared to become negligent about it after puberty. It is recommended to make prayer beloved to the child, mention its virtues, and accustom them to sleeping early. If this does not work, they should be disciplined with a non-injurious beating. If the child still does not respond after that, there is no sin upon the parents after repeated attempts.
