What is the wisdom behind prohibiting musical instruments in songs that encourage jihad, or in songs sung for mothers, even though they do not incite lust?

Listening to musical instruments is forbidden, as indicated by evidence from the Qur'an and Sunnah. From the Qur'an, Allah Almighty says: "And among the people is he who buys wasteful discourse to mislead [others] from the way of Allah without knowledge" (Luqman: 6). The Companions and their successors (Tabi'un) interpreted "wasteful discourse" as singing. From the Sunnah, Al-Bukhari narrated from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "There will be people from my Ummah who will consider unlawful sexual intercourse, silk, intoxicants, and musical instruments to be lawful."

Scholars have mentioned reasons for the prohibition of music, including: 1. It is a means to fornication because it incites desire. 2. It distracts from the remembrance of Allah. 3. Singing cultivates hypocrisy in the heart.

A believer must avoid forbidden things, whether they know the reason for their prohibition or not.
