Must a wife seek forgiveness from her first husband whom she wronged, knowing that she has become a stranger to him, and what is the solution if he does not forgive her?
The conditions for repentance are to cease the sin, to regret having committed it, and to resolve not to return to it. If the sin relates to the rights of another human being, then it is a condition to restore the right to them or to seek their forgiveness. Therefore, the wife must seek forgiveness from her first husband for the injustice she committed against him, even if she has to give him money, and this can be done through one of her mahrams. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever has wronged his brother concerning his honor or anything else, let him seek his forgiveness today before there will be no dinar or dirham. If he has good deeds, some of them will be taken in proportion to his wrongdoing. And if he has no good deeds, then some of the sins of his companion will be taken and laid upon him."
