Is it obligatory to make up for the days of not fasting due to a medical excuse after recovery, or was paying the fidyah sufficient?

If you broke your fast last Ramadan based on the advice of a specialist doctor, then there is nothing [sinful] upon you, but you must make up for it now. The fidyah is not sufficient for you as long as you are able to fast, for the fidyah is for those who are permanently unable to fast. If you are unable to make up the fast due to a chronic illness from which there is no hope of recovery, then you must feed one poor person for each day. If you delayed making up the fast until the next Ramadan arrived, due to ignorance of the ruling or for an excuse, then you are not required to pay expiation for delaying the make-up fast.
