Is a person's feeling of anger when told about their good deeds in front of people considered hypocrisy (riya')?

A Muslim's fear of falling into hypocrisy (riya') is commendable, and he must strive to achieve sincerity (ikhlas) and frequently seek refuge in Allah from shirk (polytheism). Among the narrated supplications is: "O Allah, we seek refuge in You from associating anything with You knowingly, and we seek Your forgiveness for what we do not know."

One must be cautious not to let Satan tempt him to abandon good deeds under the pretext of fearing hypocrisy. For, performing deeds for the sake of people is shirk, and abandoning deeds for their sake is hypocrisy.

Committing forbidden acts should not be a reason to abandon acts of obedience; rather, the opposite is true. It is recommended to frequently read books that address soul purification and remind one of the afterlife, and to recite the Qur'an and remember Allah.
