Is it permissible to learn singing for the purpose of improving one's voice in the recitation of the Quran?

Learning singing accompanied by music or to learn the melodic modes of singers is not permissible. As for learning to recite poetry to improve one's voice, it is permissible, provided the poetry does not contain anything forbidden. It is preferable to practice improving one's voice with the Qur'an and to imitate skilled reciters to learn the proper recitation (tartil) of the Qur'an and its tajwid rules.
