What should the questioner do with his brother, who is of Deobandi belief, who does not accept his advice, reads Deobandi books, and denies that Allah is on the Throne or in the heaven, claiming that He is everywhere?

Deobandism is a deeply rooted intellectual school of thought founded in India after the British quelled the Islamic revolution in 1857 CE, with the aim of saving Muslims from the dangers of Western encroachment. A number of virtuous scholars have been affiliated with it. In subsidiary matters, it follows the Hanafi madhhab, and in matters of theological principles, it follows the Maturidi madhhab.

Deobandism does not claim that Allah is in every place, even if they do not affirm Allah Almighty's 'istiwa' (ascension) over His Throne in the same way that Ahl as-Sunnah affirm it, and the doctrine of hulul (incarnation/indwelling) is considered disbelief. Those among them who err or disagree should be advised and shown the truth with proofs and evidence, bearing in mind that the Maturidis, like the Ash'aris, are among the closest schools of mutakallimun (theologians) to the madhhab of Ahl as-Sunnah wal-Hadith, and they have contributed to serving the religion and supporting the truth.
