Usury is one of the grave sins. Whoever engages in it must repent and seek forgiveness. A condition for repentance is returning rights to their rightful owners. Therefore, he must return the interest to its owners if he knows them. Otherwise, he should donate it for the benefit of Muslims and charitable works, such as giving it to the poor and needy, including his poor relatives whom he is not obligated to support. It must be disbursed in a single payment.
